How do I ensure that my gmail account data stays secure when I am using a shared or public computer?

Closing your Web browser will not end your Gmail session as it does with many other systems. You must click the sign out button when you are finished using your Gmail account on a shared or public computer, and then close the browser to be sure that no one else can access your data.

Another way to protect yourself is to use an incognito window when accessing your account on a public computer.   This is a secure tab in your browser that when closed will delete your browsing history.  To enter incognito mode follow the instructions below.

1. Open your browser

2. Press Ctrl+Shift+n on your Windows computer.  For the mac press ⌘ + shift +n.

You may also use the 3 veretical dots at the upper right corner of your browser and select "New Incognito Window"
